Workshop: Retki runouteen (A journey into poetry)
Join us for a unique poetic journey to J.L. Runeberg’s home, where the history of poetry comes alive.
In this two-part workshop, we will delve into the secrets of our national poet Runeberg’s poetry. The first workshop begins on Tuesday, February 3 at 1:00 PM with a guided tour introducing participants to Runeberg’s fascinating history.
After the coffee break, poet Elna Yrjönkoski will lead participants to reflect on what poetry is and what elements make a text poetic. The workshop culminates in writing your own poems in the historical surroundings of Runeberg’s home.
The workshop is free of charge, but places are limited.
You can register via the city’s online store.
Elna Yrjönkoski is a poet originally from Pori, now based in Porvoo. Her debut poetry collection Heart in the Storm will be published in January 2026.
In the second workshop of A Journey into Poetry on Tuesday, February 10, we return with the same group to Runeberg’s home and continue writing poems together with poet Elna Yrjönkoski. We will conclude the poetry journey with a shared afternoon coffee.
